Nepalese Community Hurstville Inc. recently celebrated National Paddy Day (Ashar 15th of the Nepali Calendar) 29th June 2025 at Empress Street Reserve in Hurstville, NSW. This annual monsoon festival, traditionally a special rice plantation day in Nepal, was recreated in Australia to maintain its cultural significance.
The celebration, attended by substantial number of local Nepalese Origin, captured the spirit of the Nepali tradition. Attendees enjoyed a feast of beaten rice, yogurt, and potato dishes, a culinary highlight that gives the festival its unique character. The event also featured traditional singing and dancing, mirroring the joyful field celebrations in Nepal.
Nepalese Community Hurstville Inc. plans to organize more such events, aiming to bring community members together to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.
